Director of Science (Conservation)

 

Cotton grass © Chris HillReporting directly to the Managing Director, your role will lead on the oversight of Science related issues such as conservation standards, biodiversity surveillance and reporting and co-ordination of research. Much of this work requires close collaboration with a variety of stakeholders including the nature conservation agencies in the four UK countries. You will also be a member of the Executive Management Board, having joint responsibility for the strategic direction of the JNCC.

A strong scientific background, including a scientific degree, combined with operational experience in nature conservation and/or the management of natural resources gained with an agency, authority or consultancy is essential. You will have proven leadership skills, excellent communication and negotiating skills and experience in managing a budget.
