Invertebrates

Work in this area encompasses gathering data and information needed to assess the status of species, and their habitats, in the UK and to report on their condition at both the national and international level.

 

An up to date list of species listed in the Wildlife and Countryside Act is available.

The consultation for the most recent review of schedules of the Wildlife and Countryside Act is archived.

 

As the National Biodiversity Network continues to grow more data will be made available. National datasets for dragonflies, carabids and freshwater crayfish have been added together with area specific data from e.g. Northern Ireland.

 

The Butterfly Monitoring Scheme is jointly funded by JNCC and CEH; further details are available at the BMS website.

 

Two Red Data Books and several species reviews have been produced to assess the conservation status of invertebrates in the UK. These are listed in our publications catalogue.
