The Tracking Mammals Partnership is managed by a Steering
Group with representatives from all the organisations in the
Partnership. The Steering Group meets annually and works to
clearly defined
Terms of Reference. Main areas of discussion
include progress with the surveillance and monitoring programme,
data availability, volunteer management, reporting results and
achieving closer co-operation between the organisations
involved.

The Steering Group also oversees the work of the Volunteer and
Data Management Group and several Focus Groups.
Volunteer and Data Management Group
A sub-group of the TMP Steering Group has been set-up to
assess all aspects of volunteer engagement and also the many issues
involved with data collection, collation and management.

Focus Groups
The TMP Focus Groups have been set up to take a more detailed
look at the surveillance and monitoring programme. The groups,
consisting of experts on particular species, meet once or twice a
year and concentrate on improving the quality and quantity of data
collected and investigating potential methods and schemes.
Deer
Concentrating on surveillance and monitoring issues for all

Riparian Mammals and Mustelids
Concentrating on riparian species and developing mustelids
surveys. Minutes of meetings in pdf format.
Urban Schemes
Concentrating on developing the schemes operating in the built
environment, looking at species coverage and how elements of

Small Mammals
Concentrating on surveillance of voles, shrews, mice, rats and

Multi Species Schemes
Concentrating on developing the large multi-species surveys
such as the National Bat Monitoring Programme, National Game Bag
Census, Breeding Bird Survey – Mammal data, Winter Mammal
Monitoring, Mammals on Roads.
