Marine Protected Areas Technical Group

The Marine Protected Areas Technical Group replaces Marine Natura Project Group. Details of the revised governance. This is an inter-agency, executive-level technical group that co-ordinates all Marine Protected Areas work. The group is chaired by the JNCC Marine Director, Doctor John Goold and reports to JNCC Committee and the SPA Scientific Working Group. When required, it will provide information  to the non-executive Marine Protected Areas Committee Sub-Group for further consideration or endorsement who, in turn will advise Joint Committee.  Meetings are held three times a year in February, May and September and are supported by a Secretariat provided by JNCC. With regard to Natura, the first step in the process of SAC identification is comment on the site documentation by the Technical Group. The Terms of Reference for the Group will be made available shortly and minutes of previous meetings are available.

Minutes of Previous Meetings

The minutes of past meetings are made available once they have been formally approved by the group at the subsequent meeting.
