How to use the master list
The master list provides a flexible
format, suitable for filtering data on a range of parameters.
For example users can focus on
- An individual species eg Otter Lutra lutra
- A given genus eg Terns - Sterna
- A broader taxonomic group (eg Diptera)
- A specific list eg all BAP priority species
- A type of designation eg Critically Endangered
- A type of legislation eg species listed under the Habitats
Directive.
This is done by clicking on the grey
down arrow on the right hand side of the relevant column heading
(row 1 on the master list), and then choosing the appropriate item
on the list.
Note that when a filter has been
made on a range of data, the row numbers on the left hand side of
the spreadsheet are shown in blue, as is the drop down arrow in the
column heading used for filter.
Filters can be used in combination,
eg to list all bird species under the BAP, first select "Bird"
using the taxon group filter, followed by "Biodiversity Action plan
lists" from the constituent lists filter.
For more specialised searches you can use "custom filter",
also obtainable from clicking on the drop down arrow in the column
heading and choosing the (custom) option at the top of the list of
items. The custom filter enables you to search for items
starting with or containing a search term.
