The JNCC produces its first Sustainable Development Action Plan

On 8 March 2005 the Government launched its new Sustainable Development Strategy Securing the Future.  This document made a commitment that all government departments and executive agencies would produce a Sustainable Development Action Plan.  Defra extended this commitment to the wider Defra family, including the JNCC, to aid their aspiration to become “best in class”.

 

The JNCC Sustainable Development Action Plan demonstrates our contribution to the UK’s Sustainable Development strategy and the importance that we attach to our environmental, social and economic footprint.

 

In writing the plan, we have followed the guidance published by the Sustainable Development Commission (SDC) and followed the set of shared UK principles for sustainable development.

 

The JNCC’s SDAP will be audited by the SDC as part of their watchdog function.
