Introduction

The Tracking Mammals Partnership (TMP) aims to provide up-to-date and reliable information about the status and population trends of all UK land mammals.

The TMP relies greatly on the goodwill and continued participation of volunteers to collect data. Included here are some of the most interesting aspects of TMP’s activities in 2006, showing how the work of the volunteers fits in with the overall picture of mammal surveillance. We extend our gratitude and thanks to everyone who has participated in TMP surveys and hope that they will continue to enjoy survey work in the future.

Our first major report was published in 2005, containing comprehensive results collated from all the surveys in the TMP.  Detailed information on population trends for individual species will be updated every year on the TMP website, with the next major report planned for 2010.
